Wow it has been 16 weeks already?! That went by so fast. This class was challenging for me and to tell you the truth, I was ready to give in half way through the semester. Now that it is said and done, I’m glad I didn’t and I really hope my grade shows it. This class, even though it was online, with the other four classes this semester did me in. I’m exhausted. If there was one thing I would have changed about this semester, it would have been to take fewer classes with this one. I really don’t think I got enough out of this class, or at least what I thought I should of. Although, I do hope I pass this class so I don’t have to take it again. This was my first online class, I think I have told you all that before, and it was definitely more challenging than I thought. I chose to take an online course because I needed to see if I would want to take any others for my masters. I had mentioned that to Jennifer and she said that you can’t really decide that based on one class because every instructor is different in the work load. I guess that makes sense because not all instructors are the same in class. I guess my logic was a little irrational. Oh well. So with that said, I am taking another online class, cognitive psychology, for CSUB in January. Wish me luck! Getting back to this class, sorry got side tracked. I did enjoy the knowledge of different styles of writing, or purposes. Even though I did enjoy it, it was a little challenging to redirect my focus then how I usually write. In writing this, I would like to thank our professor for her kind words and the ability to explain to me about certain assignments. I wouldn’t have done all my assignment if you didn’t show some faith in me. I hope all of you got the chance to see our professor this semester! I think I would have rather taken her class in class rather than online, but I think I’d rather take any class in class. I like the interaction and I think I learn better too that way. This class has definitely helped me with my time management skills, well kind of. With having so many classes I had to plan my day with what subject I needed to concentrate on. I hope everyone has had a rewarding experience with this class. I would like to thank all of you for your responses to my blog postings, they were really encouraging. My last blog is coming to a close and I am almost sad to go, yet I am so excited the end another semester! I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope you all continue with your education and make lots of money in the future. And don’t forget to have lots of children so we will have social security in the future! Sorry, just took my sociology final; it’s fresh in my mind. I think Dr. Shey might have emphasized that too much…LOL.
I wish you well and much success in future classes.
ReplyDeleteIt does not seem like it has been 16 weeks but it has. We have had easy weeks and hard weeks we have endured. I have taken many online classes and must say that this class had the largest workload I have ever had but I can say it has resulted in a much better understanding of language and the power that it carries. I was not sure what to except the first week or two but after that, it all seemed to fall into place and on learning experience built us up to the next ultimately ending up with the research paper.
ReplyDeleteAlong the way we might have pulled some hair out or wanted to cry but know that we are here we know why. Our lives will be better for what we have learned this semester. Do try some more online classes as every teacher and subject is different online and it is a education itself to learn in this forum as you have found out. Merry Christmas and good luck in your next online class.
So you met our instructor too? She is really nice and understanding isn’t she? I too believe that all students who take this course should stop by her office during her office hours meet her at least once. She is one of the nicer teachers I have had at AVC. I too will be taking another online course, another English one at that. However, this English course will be at another college due to this college not offering the class that I needed for my AA degree. It is good know that you improved in more ways then one by taking this course. I agree with you that this class requires you to get your act together and figure out a plan or a routine in order to get things done at a nice and steady pace.
ReplyDeleteDo not worry about you not getting enough out of this class. I believe as long as you learn something from a class then the teacher has done their job. A lot of the stuff in this class was in general review for me but, I still improved a lot I believe by taking this course and I thank our instructor for that experience I gained.
For me the whole having kids deal is going to have to wait for a long while. I am not planning on having any kids until my late twenties or maybe even early thirties at the latest, of course this is assuming that I even get married in first place though I plan to someday.
Yes, I agree, this class was definitely more challenging than I expected too. I had to learn the learning environment on top of learning the material. There’s a bit of a learning curve at first till you get the hang of it. I took all online classes this semester, and like you, I took way too many. I don’t like that I didn’t have time (on top of working) to devote as much of myself to my studies as I would have liked. The truth is, I bit off more than I could chew, but even that is part of the learning curve. I don’t have the energy or stamina I used to, so I’m going to have to adjust my expectations.
ReplyDeleteAll of my classes for next semester are traditional classroom courses. I’m really dreading the drive into to town, and fighting with the parking. As I said before, all of my classes this semester were online and all of them were tough. I am happy to say I passed my math course. After the first mid-term I really had my doubts. The math course used a completely different software format and I found it a lot less confusing than Blackboard. I’ve really enjoyed having you in my group, and our chat in Google Talk. I wish you all the best and great success in your future studies.
